2505 - Oil on canvas, KAISERGEBIRGE, incised signature in the lower left corner, faintly signed and titled on the reverse, rocaille frame, clear signs of age (including craquelure, canvas slightly warped), framing partially restored, approx. 80 x 70 cm, with frame approx. 98 x 85 cm; as a student of Heinrich von Zügel and Max Liebermann, Graboné, who served as rector of the Zurich Academy of Fine Arts, made many well-known friends such as Hans Albers and Karl Valentin; among other things, he also gave private painting lessons to Winston Churchill; his works were not only exhibited at the White House and the Imperial Palace in Tokyo but are still in the possession of the Kennedy and Eisenhower families today.
