" GUILLARD " Ex-Membre du Conseil des 500, au Citoyen SIEYES Président du Sénat Conservateur. Paris, 12 Nivôse an 8 (February 1, 1800). 1p in-4°: "Citoyen Président, I am running for one of the positions of Judge at the Tribunal de Cassation. Citizen LACÉPÈDE, who is kind enough to grant me some friendship, has advised me and flattered me with some hope. My previous studies and the position of Public Prosecutor that I have held do not make me a stranger to judicial functions. You know the other titles I can invoke in my favor. May I hope that on this decisive occasion, you will give me a token of your benevolence, which I have never ceased to deserve, and include me with interest on the list you will propose to the Senate... I have visited you several times without having the honor of seeing you, so please allow me to make a request in writing." (Following this letter, GUILLARD was appointed Government Commissioner to the Eure-et-Loir Criminal Court in 1800).
