LEGO 21110 – Research Institute 2014 26 x 14 x 5 cm Geoscientist Ellen Kooijman brought the spirit of discovery from her own profession to LEGO Ideas with this 152-piece set and its 3 minifigures. A paleontologist examines a dinosaur skeleton, an astronomer studies the sky through a telescope, and a chemist works at her lab bench. Known online as Alatariel, Kooijman originally proposed the project as the “Female Minifigure Set,” aiming to give female LEGO characters a wider range of interesting roles. That ambition gives these three compact scenes a story that transcends their size: a practicing scientist helping to shape how science is portrayed in play. Now retired, “Research Institute” is a distinctive early Ideas release with particular appeal for science enthusiasts and collectors of fan-created designs. New and sealed. May show minor signs of shelf wear.
