SET OF FOUR DINING CHAIRS Made of molded and carved wood with a floral motif, left in its natural finish, featuring a scalloped band. Rests on four curved legs connected by an H-shaped crossbar. Louis XV period. Upholstered in yellow silk fabric with polychrome floral motifs. Height: 90 cm - Width: 48 cm - Depth: 44 cm. (Minor imperfections, restorations; sold as is). Description: This model is distinguished by the relatively unusual presence of an H-shaped crossbar, a design inherited from 17th-century furniture and which became rare during the reign of Louis XV. This feature is nevertheless found in the work of several Parisian cabinetmakers, notably Nicolas Blanchard, Philippe-Joseph Pluvinet, and Louis-Michel Lefèvre, some of whose chairs feature comparable designs. Intended to reinforce the rigidity of the base, this brace is found particularly on dining chairs, whose use required a sturdy structure capable of withstanding frequent movement.
