As part of a series of Daido Moriyama books with silkscreen-printed canvas covers, Tokyo-based gallery and publisher Akio Nagasawa brings back Moriyama’s “Platform” series. Originally photographed “one day in 1977,” Moriyama took pictures of people waiting on the opposite platform at Shinjuku Station and Yokohama Station. In Moriyama’s skillful black-and-white photographs, the platforms become stages and the waiting passengers become actors in an improvised play of choreographed poses and facial expressions.
