ZO D’AXA. La Feuille. Illustrations by Steinlen, Willette, Léandre, Hermann-Paul, Couturier, Anquetin, and Luce. Paris, October 6, 1897 – March 28, 1899. 25 folio-sized issues (32 x 45 cm), in the publisher’s orange cover. Complete collection of the 25 issues of this anarchist illustrated journal, illustrated primarily by Steinlen. Each issue consists of a text by Zo d’Axa and a full-page illustration on the reverse side, some in color: 17 political caricatures by Steinlen, 3 by Hermann-Paul, and one each by the other illustrators—Anquetin, Couturier, Léandre, Luce, and Willette. Two issues are printed across two pages, with a blank reverse side. The collection is preserved in the publisher’s orange-paper cover, dated 1900. “It is the cry, the poster, the placard. And it is a weapon. ” *La Feuille*, which appeared “on every occasion” between October 6, 1897, and March 28, 1899, was written and published by Zo d’Axa. A pamphlet-style journal written in the form of single-sheet leaflets. INCLUDED: The complete, very rare collection (50 copies) of all the illustrations that were printed from lithographic stones (and are therefore originals), comprising 16 plates: 14 by Steinlen, 1 by Hermann-Paul, and 1 by Willette. With the exception of the Willette, all the plates are signed and numbered in pencil. A VERY BEAUTIFUL COLLECTION.
