I am hastening to return to you in this envelope a proof with the retouches I believe necessary for your engraving, which possesses very commendable qualities of tone and delicacy, but to which I would ask for more vigor in certain places, especially in the drawing of the figures.” ENCLOSED: Two photographs by Dore´, taken by Et. Carjat, with a dedication to his friend H. Giacomelli, the bird painter.
