ANGOT (Robert), Sieur de l’Eperonnière. *Les nouveaux satires et excersices gaillards de ce temps*... To which is added *L’Uranie, or the Celestial Muse*. Rouen: Michel l’Allemant, 1637. Small 8vo, red morocco, decorated spine with intertwined thread and dotted patterns, internal notching, gilt edges. (Late 18th-century binding). One of the rarest volumes in this collection, born in Caen in 1581, which, according to Ch. Nodier, “is not to be dismissed,” and of which Viollet-Le-Duc says “These satires rightly place Robert Angot in the tradition of Vauquelin de la Fresnaye, Courval-Sonnert, and Auvray, his compatriots and contemporaries.” In addition to the satires and *La Muse céleste*, this collection contains *La Muse héroïque*, *Au Roy*, *Ératon, ou la Muse amoureuse*, *La Muse familière* (letters in verse), *The Prickly Muse* (epigrams), *The Royal Muse*, addressed to the King on the happy success of his military campaigns in 1601 and 1602, *The Funeral Muse*, and *The Conversation of the Muses*. These various sections contain a large number of pieces relating to Normandy. From the libraries of Ch. Nodier (ex-libris, no. 518 in the catalog), de Béhague (no. 737), and Baron Pichon (1869, no. 623).
