Handcrafted, circa 1970–1980 “Vine Stem” Floor Lamp Sculptural light fixture H 153, W 67, D 87 cm Provenance: Burgundy vineyards A remarkable floor lamp with an organic structure composed of a gnarled and twisted old vine trunk, with sinuous and expressive forms, set in a base assembled from rough limestone blocks forming a massive, earth-like mineral structure. The intertwining of the fossilized vine shoots and the rock creates a sculptural composition of great visual power, evoking a miniaturized natural landscape. The main stem, with the characteristic twists and turns of an aged vine, extends into an offset arm that supports the lampshade via a natural rope suspension. The cylindrical lampshade is made of gray-green boiled wool, featuring a raised design of a braided or quilted pattern, trimmed with an irregular fringe around the edge, which casts a soft, warm light and creates a beautiful decorative effect.
