Luca Meda (1936–1998) Capotavola Dining Table Wood Molteni & C, Italy Year of design: 1988 H77 W 200 D90 cm In good vintage condition, with slight signs of wear, as shown in the photographs. Fixed rectangular table; not extendable. An elegant postmodern dining table, the Capotavola model was designed by Luca Meda in 1988 for Molteni & C in Italy. The table features a rectangular wooden top with a slightly overhanging beveled edge and rests on four distinctive tapered legs. The transition between the geometric corner blocks and the rounded legs creates a refined interplay of architectural forms. Combining references to traditional cabinetmaking with understated modern geometry, the Capotavola table is a prime example of Luca Meda’s approach to Italian furniture design. Bibliography: Molteni Museum, Capotavola, 1988.
