Conceived in the early 1980s, the Teatro reflects Rossi’s fascination with the connections between architecture, furniture, and theatrical space. Its clean, geometric structure, generous wooden elements, and subtly curved backrest give this chair a distinctly architectural presence. This pair is distinguished by a wooden frame with striking grain, enhanced by a rich, warm brown finish. The set is complemented by a seat and backrest upholstered in a very deep aubergine-colored leather, which, depending on the light, appears almost black. The Teatro marks an important milestone in the long-standing collaboration between Aldo Rossi and Molteni—a period during which the architect successfully translated his unique architectural language into pieces of furniture with a timeless character. Condition: In beautiful vintage condition, featuring a harmonious and uniform patina, as well as slight surface scratches and signs of wear consistent with its age. The original character of the wood and leather has been preserved. A pair of Italian chairs from the 1980s, both refined and imbued with a distinct architectural identity.
