Gustavsberg edition, circa 1960. H 2.7–25 cm. Stig Lindberg (Umeå, 1916 – Florence, 1982) was a leading figure in postwar Swedish design. As artistic director of the Gustavsberg factory—one of the world’s most prestigious—from 1949 to 1978, he developed an extraordinarily rich ceramic vocabulary: floral, geometric, and animal motifs; vivid yet refined colors; and inventive forms. His works are included in the collections of the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, the Designmuseum Danmark, and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. This set of ten pieces offers a glimpse into Lindberg’s diversity and creative richness at Gustavsberg—a collection acquisition of exceptional caliber.
