LAUZUN (Duke of). Memoirs. Complete edition preceded by a study on Lauzun and his memoirs by Georges d’Heyllé. 1 volume, in-8, bound in half havana morocco with corner pieces, Jansenist-style ribbed spine, dated at the bottom, gilt edges. Paris: Rouveyre, 1880. Printed in an edition of 500 copies, including a deluxe edition of 100 copies; this copy is 1 of 20 on Renage-tinted paper (no. 31). Includes etchings by Malval in three states (black, bistre, and sanguine), and a frontispiece title page in four proofs by Malval, three of which are “avant la lettre” (bistre, sanguine, and black). A VERY BEAUTIFUL COPY. Ex-libris from the Library of Albert de Rochas d’Aiglun Ref.: Vicaire, pp. 106: “The publication of the Memoirs of the Duke of Lauzun gave rise to various seizures and lawsuits.” Albert de Rochas d’Aiglun was a military engineer and historian.
