GREVENBERG, CASPAR Cologne Title: Large, Double-Chambered Pear-Wood Coin Scales. Date: Dated 1731. Material: A box made of pear wood. Parts of an iron scale with brass pans and green cords. Brass weights. Dimensions: 5 x 26 x 13 cm. Mark: On the inside of both lids are adhesive labels reading: “Recht Abgezogene wag und geiwht Macht M: Caspar Grevenberg der Statt Cöllen (...) 1731.” Description: A large, rectangular box with ornamental embossed and incised decoration and two drawers. The original weights and scales are missing. The upper drawer has recesses for 40 gold weights, and the lower drawer has recesses for 39 silver weights. At the top of the lid is a compartment containing two balancing weights, and at the bottom there is a compartment on the side; the drawer here is missing. Condition: Most of the weights are missing; only fragments of the balance scale remain.
