MEISSEN Title: Porcelain Bowl and Display Stand with Purple Landscapes. Date: ca. 1740. Material: Porcelain, overglaze painting in purple, gold "staffage." Dimensions: Height (bowl) 10.5 cm, diameter (bowl) 11.5 cm, (display stand) 17.2 cm. Mark: Swords mark painted blue underglaze, incised number, “H” in gold on all pieces, golden numbers “7,” “9,” and “12.” Description: A round, bowl-shaped vessel with rocaille handles on the sides, set on a short, molded base. A matching domed lid with a spherical finial. The vessel and lid are decorated with a continuous river landscape featuring trees in the background, architectural elements, and figurative “staffage.” A display stand with a rising rim, also featuring a river landscape in the center, while the sides are adorned with flowers and shaded insects.
