MEISSEN Title: Écuelle with Display Stand, featuring a landscape design. Date: ca. 1745/1750. Material: Porcelain, decorated in polychrome and gold. Dimensions: Height (bowl with lid) 12 cm, Ø (bowl) 13.5 cm, (display stand) 20 cm. Mark: Swords mark painted in blue underglaze, incised number. Description: A low, bowl-shaped body with high sides. Double handles on the sides in the shape of clustered, blossoming branches. A domed lid with a strawberry-shaped knob. All parts are decorated with unframed landscape scenes depicting elegant gatherings and couples, with church architecture in the background. Floral motifs are painted between the scenes and in the center of the underside of the bowl. Provenance: - Reiner Dannenberg Auction House, “K 69” auction, March 1998, Lot 89. Acquired at the aforementioned auction; in a private collection ever since.
