LANGENBERG, JOHAN Cologne Title: Large Coin Scale. Date: Dated 1648. Material: Box made of pear wood. Iron scales with green cords. Brass weights. Dimensions: 3 x 25.5 x 12.5 cm. Mark: Inscribed on the inside of the lid: “Wag und Gewicht macht M. Johan Langenberg wonende uff der Breitestraße in der gulden Waage in Cöllen Ao 1648.” One of the weighing pans is marked. Description: A large, rectangular box with ornamental embossed and engraved decoration. Inside the drawer, labeled with weight markings in black ink, are 40 weights bearing coin designs. Beneath the small lid drawer are three balancing weights. The beam scales have one round and one triangular pan.
