WOLLENWEBER, EDUARD Munich Title: Impressive Historicist Silver Lidded Goblet. Date: Late 19th century. Material: Silver with interior gilding and partial gilding. Weight approx. 1750. Dimensions: Height 17.5 cm. Hallmark: Crescent and crown, standard fineness 800, maker’s mark Ed. Wollenweber. Description: In the style of early 17th-century columbine goblets. A round, six-times-bulged foot with a rising center. Flower and leaf vines are embossed and engraved on the foot and across the entire body. Above this, the stem takes the form of a putto, kneeling on cartilaged moldings and volutes. He holds above his head the large, laced, and multi-bulged cup with a correspondingly decorated slip-on lid. This is crowned by a large finial set upon cartilaged moldings.
