BARTOLOMEO PEDON Seascape with rocky outcrop and sailing ships Oil on canvas, 65.5x82 cm The attribution to Pedon stems from the general scenographic setting of the work with the ever-present backdrop of the rocky outcrop surmounted by an ancient tower, the chiaroscuro luministic score, the meteorological curiosity and the transcending tones that reveal moments of an expressive poetry reminiscent of Marco Ricci's mature manner. Even the close-up figures, the calm compositional rhythm, and the distant village hint at the influence of the Belluno landscape painter in this painting datable to around 1730. The work is accompanied by Prof. D.Succi's expert opinion, here taken in part.
