PASQUALE OTTINO (attributed to) Saint Catherine during her imprisonment receives a visit from Empress Faustina, wife of Maxentius, and the head of the court Porphyrius Oil on canvas, 37x47.5 cm The canvas under consideration can be attributed to the Veronese painter Pasquale Ottino, at the most Caravaggesque moment of his career. The most immediate comparisons are with the "Resurrection of Lazarus" kept in the deposits of the Galleria Borghese in Rome and with the "Dead Christ with Magdalene and Angels" in the Castelvecchio Museum in Verona. Work accompanied by statement from the Salamon Gallery.
