GIACOMO NANI (circle of) Still life with fruits and pottery Pair of oils on canvas, 37x62.5 cm The two still lifes under consideration, of excellent quality, can be placed in the circle of the Neapolitan painter Giacomo Nani. According to De Dominici, the artist was Belvedere's best pupil. He painted still lifes of all kinds and genres: flowers, fruits, objects, animals. A neo-naturalist vein of still seventeenth-century taste stands out in his works. Restoration and further study may better help to understand these two valuable canvases. Provenance: Formerly Finarte auction Milan, December 1984, as Gasparo Lopez.
