17TH-CENTURY FLEMISH PAINTER Vase of Flowers Oil on canvas, 56.5 x 38 cm; monogrammed “GEE.I.DV.M. f” in the lower right corner. On the back of the panel, the “Garde-Meuble Maple” label indicates that, in the late 19th century, the piece was housed at the famous Maples Depository in Paris—a company with branches in London and Paris that specialized in the production of fine furniture as well as the storage, relocation, and sale of works of art.
