A lovely love letter from Eluard to Nusch, written during a stay at Jean Hugo’s home, shortly after his separation from Gala. He mentions André Breton and Gala and declares his love for Nusch: My beautiful darling, the weather is splendid, there is a deep silence, and I am thinking of you. How wonderful it would be if you were here. I received your letter and Breton’s yesterday. This afternoon I’m going to Montpellier to try to get a visa for Spain. If not, Gala will come here. In seven days at the latest, I’ll be in Paris, close to you, my beautiful Nusch, so pure and so wise. I send you big hugs. Yours [ ].
