Cycling / Green Jersey / Smurf / BP / Peyo White plastic figurine on a triangular base: “The Smurf, Green Jersey of the Tour de France, BP” This Smurf by Peyo wears a golden winner’s crown on his shoulder and commemorates BP’s partnership with the Tour de France from 1984 to 1988. During those five years, British Petroleum provided and sponsored the green jersey awarded to the peloton’s top sprinter. This symbolic jersey, created in 1953 and first won by the Swiss rider Fritz Schaer, was later awarded to champions such as Sean Kelly, Eddy Planckaert, Hoste, Van Poppel, and Vanderaerden.
