GABRIELE REGONDI and PIERLUIGI GHIANDA (Italy, 1926–2015) for Rosenthal. “Talete” dining table, 1970s. Steel and glass. In good condition with signs of use and wear. Measurements: 74 x 190 x 90 cm. “Talete” dining table, designed by Gabriele Regondi and Pierluigi Ghianda for the German firm Rosenthal in the late 1970s. The piece is distinguished by its structure of straight lines and angular profiles, which define a highly understated architectural silhouette, with visual hallmarks of lightness associated with the glass tabletop. The table is part of a period of renewal in Rosenthal’s production; the German firm, historically associated with porcelain, expanded its activities into contemporary furniture during the 1960s and 1970s through collaborations with avant-garde designers. This initiative allowed the company to explore new typologies and formal languages, moving away from its traditional image. Gabriele Regondi and Pierluigi Ghianda worked in the field of furniture design, combining formal research with technical precision and a focus on materials. Pierluigi Ghianda (1926–2015), an Italian cabinetmaker and master craftsman, was renowned for his extraordinary mastery of wood and for his collaborations with leading architects and designers. His work was characterized by precision in execution, exploration of the material’s structural possibilities, and a deep understanding of the relationship between design and craftsmanship. He collaborated with figures such as Gio Ponti, Mario Bellini, and Achille Castiglioni, helping to bring technically demanding projects to life.
