ARREDAMENTI BORSANI VAREDO, under the direction of GAETANO BORSANI (Italy, 1885–1955). Dressing table with triptych mirror. Italy, designed between the late 1920s and early 1940s. Wood, gilded elements, and mirrors. Certificate No. 507/2026 from the Osvaldo Borsani Archive, dated in Milan on July 15, 2026, is attached. Measurements: 153 x 120 x 50 cm. Crafted by Arredamenti Borsani Varedo under the direction of Gaetano Borsani, this dressing table combines an enveloping structure with a central mirror and two side panels that expand the field of view. The hallmarks of light and dark woods accentuate its architectural lines, while the gilded floral crown molding and carved handles reflect the Brianza cabinetmaking tradition in which the workshop was established. Founded by Gaetano, father of Osvaldo and Fulgenzio Borsani, the Varedo Atelier evolved from historically inspired furniture toward more refined and geometric forms, with the collaboration of Gino Maggioni and the subsequent addition of Osvaldo. This piece embodies that harmony between ornate detail and structural clarity, combining practical function with a decorative presence that remains appealing in contemporary bedrooms and walk-in closets. Gaetano Borsani was an Italian cabinetmaker and entrepreneur, the father of Osvaldo and Fulgenzio Borsani, and the founder of the Atelier de Varedo, later renamed Arredamenti Borsani Varedo (ABV). His workshop was part of the artisanal tradition of Brianza, one of Italy’s leading furniture-producing regions. Initially, he produced historically inspired furniture—particularly in the Neo-Renaissance style—which evolved during the 1920s toward simpler, more geometric forms, thanks to his collaboration with architect Gino Maggioni and the subsequent involvement of Osvaldo.
