VITTORIO INTROINI (Italy, 1935–1991) for Saporiti. “P60” Lounge Chair. Italy, 1980s. In good condition. Wooden frame and beige upholstery. The P60 armchair is part of the Proposals collection, developed by Saporiti based on Vittorio Introini’s experimental designs. Originally conceived in the early 1960s, it stands out for its enveloping silhouette, continuous curves, and sculptural character, which foreshadow the futuristic aesthetic of Italian design during the Space Age. The architectural influence is evident in the articulation of its volumes and the integration of the frame and seat, reconciling visual impact with comfort. Its continued production demonstrates the enduring relevance of a design that became one of the most recognizable creations of the collaboration between Introini and Saporiti. Vittorio Introini (1935–2023), an architect and designer trained at the Polytechnic University of Milan, developed a body of work that stood out for its integration of individual creativity with a deep understanding of the technical and expressive possibilities of contemporary materials. His collaboration with Saporiti resulted in innovative pieces that transcended mere functionality to become true statements of design. The P60 model embodies this vision through generous volumes and organic lines that offer an exceptionally comfortable seating experience. The ottoman complements the set, enhancing both its functionality and its sculptural presence. The orange leather, in addition to providing a strong visual identity, underscores the piece’s bold and avant-garde character. Today, the P60 is considered an icon of Italian Space Age design and a piece highly prized by collectors and connoisseurs of designer furniture. Its timeless aesthetic and quality craftsmanship make it an outstanding example of Introini’s talent and Saporiti’s ability to produce designs that defined a generation. In good condition.
