EERO SAARINEN (Finland, 1910–U.S., 1961) for Knoll The table is designed in 1957. Columnar base made of aluminum, which is combined with a round or oval tabletop. Stamped with the "Knoll Studio" logo and Eero Saarinen's signature. Unused. With original packaging. The plate has been broken and repaired professionally again. Produced by Knoll Studio Measurements: D 57 x 38 cm. Height: 51 cm. Designed by Eero Saarinen in 1957, this side table by Knoll Studio features a structure centered on a single aluminum pedestal, freeing up the space beneath the tabletop and creating a continuous, sculptural silhouette. The oval “Rosso Rubino” marble, with its contrasting hallmarks, adds variety to the piece against the black base. Its significance for 21st-century design lies in this combination of structural simplicity, freedom of movement, and the expressiveness of the materials—a solution that remains relevant in contemporary interiors. Eero Saarinen studied in Paris and at Yale University and taught at the influential Cranbrook Academy. He began his career in furniture design alongside Charles Eames, with whom he won the 1940 “Organic Design in Home Furnishings” award from MoMA in New York. He later developed iconic pieces for Knoll International, which are now featured in leading collections such as MoMA’s own.
