EERO SAARINEN (Finland, 1910–1961) for Knoll International. Saarinen table in Verde Alpi with a black base. The table is designed in 1957, The table has an elegant columnar base made of aluminum, which is combined with a round or round tabletop. Stamped with the "Knoll Studio" logo and Eero Saarinen's signature. Unused. With original packaging. Brand new. Produced by Knoll Studio. Measurements: Ø 51 cm. Height: 36 cm. The Verde Alpi marble gives this Saarinen table a pattern of deep greens that harmonizes with the black aluminum base. Designed in 1957, its structure replaces traditional legs with a single central support, opening up the space and creating a sense of continuity in the table’s silhouette. Its relevance to 21st-century design lies in this synthesis of function and sculptural form, which allows the stone to take center stage without adding ornamentation. Eero Saarinen studied in Paris and at Yale University, and taught at the influential Cranbrook Academy. He began his career in furniture design alongside Charles Eames, with whom he won the 1940 “Organic Design in Home Furnishings” award from MoMA in New York. He later developed iconic pieces for Knoll International, which are now featured in leading collections such as MoMA’s own.
