JOAQUIM BELSA (Barcelona, 1929–2018) for Aresta. Pair of nightstands, Model 317, “Serie Negra,” 1960s. Solid ukola wood; cedar wood interiors; original porcelain handles. In very good condition. Measurements: 62 x 55 x 37 cm. Crafted from solid ukola wood, with cedar interiors and original porcelain handles, this pair of nightstands features a design characterized by straight lines and geometric forms. The choice of materials and the meticulous craftsmanship reflect a philosophy of furniture design that combines functionality with formal simplicity—characteristics of mid-20th-century Spanish design. The Aresta brand is part of the renewal of Spanish furniture design during the 1950s and 1960s, a period in which various companies and designers progressively incorporated the principles of modern design into the production of home furnishings. The “Negra” series embodies a restrained aesthetic in which the focus is on the geometry of the forms and attention to detail. It is part of a set with lots 40052236 and 40052237.
