VENUS AND LOVE CLOCK IN GILDED BRONZE AND WHITE MARBLE The dial, featuring Arabic numerals, rests on a pedestal decorated with an allegory of Scripture, with a stepped base; the bronze frieze depicts children at play and is bordered by a beaded frieze. The dial is signed by Jacques Mauduit of Paris, a master clockmaker who received his master’s certificate in 1763. Louis XVI period. H.: 43 cm, W.: 36 cm, D.: 17 cm.
