Attributed to Marc Mendelson (1915–2013) – Abstract Relief Composition – 20th-Century Belgian School Description: Abstract relief composition attributed to Marc Mendelson (1915–2013), a Belgian artist and leading figure in postwar modern art. The work features a highly textured surface, composed of irregular horizontal striations and vertical grooves, in shades of brown, gray, and silver. The treatment of the material and the effects of depth lend this composition a sculptural quality, evoking the artist’s materialist explorations. On the reverse, there are handwritten inscriptions yet to be deciphered and a monogram “M” inscribed within a circle. Presented in a silver-colored metal frame on a black background. Dimensions: With frame: H. 33 × W. 23 cm – Without frame: H. 18.5 × W. 10.5 cm.
