Ferdinand PAUTROT (1832–1874) – Hunting Scene with Dogs and Pheasants – Bronze, 19th century A significant bronze sculpture group with a nuanced brown patina, depicting two hunting dogs pointing at three pheasants concealed in the vegetation. The composition, particularly lively and naturalistic, features a rich setting of foliage, tree stumps, and rocky terrain. The dogs’ expressive poses, the meticulous rendering of their coats, and the detailed modeling of the birds attest to the careful craftsmanship characteristic of 19th-century French animal sculpture. The group rests on a molded oval pedestal. Signed “PAUTROT” on the pedestal and bearing the inscription “ADMIS AUX BEAUX-ARTS.” Condition: Appears to be in good overall condition; the original patina shows some wear and traces of oxidation. Minor irregularities and signs of age. Dimensions and weight: H. 19 × W. 31 × D. 14 cm – 6.450 kg.
