ATELIER MUNSTEINER Title: 3 Agate Relief Jewelry Pieces/Wall Decorations. Origin: Germany. Date: 1990, 1992, and 1999. Material: Oval relief frame in silver, hallmarked; picture frames likely made of stainless steel, one painted white. Dimensions: Each 21.5 x 21.5 cm. Gemstones: 2 oval carved band agate reliefs, approx. 4.5 x 4.1 cm and 4.3 x 3.8 cm, framed; 1 square carved layered agate relief, approx. 4.0 x 4.0 cm. Description: Three reliefs carved from layered agate; the gradations of black, blue, and white give them a decorative, high-contrast appearance. The oval reliefs are crafted with sharp edges and straight lines, while the square relief features softer, circular forms. Each of the oval reliefs bears the signature “Bm” engraved into the agate and is signed on the reverse: one reads “Bernd Munsteiner 1990,” the other “Bernd Munsteiner 1992” with the dedication “Congratulations, Bernd and Hanne.” The square relief is signed “Tm” in the lower right corner and, on the reverse, “Januar 99 Munsteiner”; judging by the signature, this is likely a work by Tom Munsteiner, Bernd’s son. Enclosure: An envelope featuring an image of the 1992 relief and a short biography of Bernd Munsteiner, inserted into the back of the frame, is included.
