GEMSTONE AND DIAMOND BROOCH 'KITE' Date: ca. 1925. Material: Platinum, hallmarked; pin: 585/- yellow gold, hallmarked. Weight: 14.5 g. Dimensions: 4.8 x 3.4 cm. Diamonds: Approx. 80 rose-cut and old-cut diamonds, totaling approx. 2.5 ct., H-J/VS-P. Gemstones: 3 round-faceted citrines totaling approx. 2.0 ct., orange-yellow, orange, and brown-orange; approx. 38 tiny rectangular-faceted emeralds, approx. 1.0–2.0 x 1.1 mm. Description: A delicate brooch in the shape of a kite with a geometric design in keeping with the austere lines of Art Deco, the edges adorned with fine millegriffe decoration. The brooch clasp was added at a later date; the kite-shaped element was probably originally part of another piece of jewelry.
