Colonna, Francesco. *Hypnerotomachie ou Discours du songe de Poliphile*, Paris, 1554. A book of legendary beauty and publishing success, the *Polifilo* A study copy, incomplete and in poor condition, of Francesco Colonna’s famous *Hypnerotomachie ou Discours du songe de Poliphile*, printed in Paris by Jacques Kerver in 1554, a French translation of the masterpiece published in Venice in 1499. The work recounts Poliphilo’s dreamlike journey in search of his beloved Polia, through enchanted gardens, imaginary architecture, ancient monuments, and complex mythological allegories. Renowned for its extraordinary fusion of text and images, it represents one of the pinnacles of humanist culture and the Renaissance illustrated book, destined to exert a lasting influence on European art and architecture. The volume features a woodcut title page and a rich array of full-page and in-text plates. This copy shows signs of historical restoration, stains, tears, and missing pages, yet retains the undeniable charm of a legendary edition, among the most celebrated in the history of the illustrated book. A book of legendary beauty and enduring renown, the *Hypnerotomachia Poliphili*
