16th-century binding with metal studs and of distinguished provenance, 16th-century binding with metal studs and of distinguished provenance Volume containing a rare Roman breviary printed by Lucantonio Giunta on January 4, 1522, with text in two columns in red and black type and two richly illustrated woodcut double-page spreads. The copy, which begins on page 66 and is therefore missing the initial leaves, features a contemporary dark brown leather binding with metal bosses at the corners and in the center of the covers; the binding remains firm and appears complete, suggesting that the missing leaves date from an earlier period. The edges are magnificently gilded and embossed. On the inside front cover is an ex libris of Emperor Francis I of Habsburg-Lorraine. 16th-century binding with metal bosses and distinguished provenance
