Agrippa, Camillo. Treatise on the Art of Arms, Rome, 1553, Study copy of the first edition An interesting copy—though unfortunately not without flaws—of Camillo Agrippa’s *Treatise on the Art of Arms*, printed in Rome by Antonio Blado in 1553. An engineer, architect, and mathematician—as well as a fencer—Agrippa was the first to systematically apply Euclidean geometry to the study of fencing, analyzing the body’s movements in space and time. The illustrations are remarkable, featuring magnificent plates attributed to Jan van der Straet and, in the past, even to Michelangelo and Leonardo. A working copy of the first edition
