TUAILLON, LOUIS 1862 Berlin–1919 Berlin Title: Frederick the Great on Horseback. Date: Sketch, circa 1912. Material: Bronze, with a brown patina. Dimensions: 72.5 x 31 x 67 cm. Inscription: Signed on the plinth: L. Tuaillon. Foundry mark: On the side of the plinth’s edge, the foundry mark: Akt.Ges. vorm. H. Gladenbeck u. Sohn. Berlin. Base: Marble base. The bronze sculpture is a smaller version of the now-lost equestrian statue of Frederick the Great, which Tuaillon designed between 1908 and 1910 for Beuthen in Upper Silesia. Included with this work is a copper walking stick, which is probably not part of the original composition.
