A brooch for the front of a blouse, crafted in 18k yellow and white gold (750 parts per thousand); the setting, shaped like a peacock feather and delicately interlaced with leaves and palmettes, is entirely set with round diamonds. At its center is a round diamond of approximately 0.8 ct suspended from a pendant, and it ends with a second teardrop-shaped pendant set with a round diamond of approximately 0.5 ct, surmounted by smaller diamonds. Circa 1900. Height: 7.5 – Width: 6 cm – Gross weight: 20.3 g (brooch that can be worn as a pendant; features loop fasteners). Provenance: Collection of Victor Depaz, a French politician and industrialist who served as director of Rhum Depaz. According to family tradition, this brooch was purchased from Mellerio. The design of this brooch evokes Mellerio (known as Meller) creations from the turn of the 20th century, inspired by both flora and peacock feathers. The millegrain setting and the extreme lightness of the mesh setting are characteristic of the technical expertise of the greatest master jewelers of the Belle Époque.
