TROYAT, Henri. *The Light of the Righteous*: *The Poppy Companions*—*La Barynia*—*The Glory of the Vanquished*—*The Ladies of Siberia*. From the library of André Maurois. Copies on alfa vellum, each featuring a signed autograph dedication. Paris, Flammarion, 1959–1962. 4 in-8 volumes, each bound in light-colored half-basane with corner pieces, four-ribbed spine, gold fillet framing the panels, gilt head, untrimmed, covers and spines preserved. Volumes 1, 2, and 3 are uncut. 314, 346, 312, and 315 pp. Some scuffing on the bindings, a mark on the spine of the last volume, glue stains on the half-title page of the second volume (affecting the dedication). First edition of the first four volumes of *La Lumière des Justes*, a historical epic recounting the tragic and passionate fate of Sophie de Champlitte, a young French aristocrat, and her husband, the Russian lieutenant Nicolas Ozareff. The last volume is missing. Each volume is one of 550 copies numbered on alfa vellum, and among these, one of the 50 not for sale (no. XXXVI). All feature an autographed dedication to André Maurois, “her sponsor at the Académie française,” and his wife. The first volume contains a signed autograph note [to André Maurois] in which he sends him a copy of the novel (2 pages, in-12, pasted in, May 13, 1959). Ex-libris vignettes by Simone André Maurois. A beautiful set.
