Folio size, paperback, white cover with large flaps illustrated with a photograph on the front cover, plain spine, Rhodoid, white publisher’s slipcase. 12 silver gelatin prints mounted on heavy paper, including the cover photograph and 6 double-page spreads. Small tears and damage at the bottom of the spine; slipcase worn with small missing areas. First edition of this album comprising a total of 12 photographic prints. This legendary series by Jean-Pierre Sudre (1921–1997) marks the culmination of his artistic and chemical explorations of the infinitely small. Created at the very heart of matter, this abstract series is produced by crystallizing various chemical compounds on glass plates, which are then used directly as negatives. A unique edition of 33 numbered copies; this is No. 1, signed by the photographer. In fine condition.
