MATTA, MABILLE, and BOISROND. Cargo IV. [Paris], Atelier Bordas, 1984. Folio (322 x 249 mm), loose-leaf, with a light gray cloth-covered board printed in black. Unpaginated (24 pages). Slight smudging on the lithographs, as is often the case. First edition printed entirely in lithography by Atelier Bordas. This fourth issue of the experimental and niche art journal brings together the worlds of three major artists across three distinct sections: Pierre Mabille (born 1958) opens the volume with graphic compositions featuring vivid geometric blocks of color and bold lettering; the Chilean master Roberto Matta (1911–2002) presents his famous explorations of automatic writing and slender silhouettes in the center; and finally, François Boisrond (born in 1959), a leading figure of Figuration Libre, closes the book with a section of highly colorful narrative compositions blending cars, palm trees, and starry skies. A limited edition of 300 numbered copies (No. 222). In excellent condition.
