FALLET, René. Paris in August. First edition, a copy featuring an amusing dedication to Pierre Onténiente. Paris, Denoël, 1964. In-12, paperback. 237 pp. Spine slightly creased with two small stains. First edition of this novel, winner of the Prix Interallié in 1964. Copy featuring an amusing dedication in green marker (and blue for the date): “Pierre Onténiente, Honorary Citizen of Gibraltar” and to his family, signed “13 to him /his buddy/ René Fallet / Nov 64.” A note that illustrates the close bond that united the members of the “Brassens gang”: René Fallet (1927–1983) was a close friend of the singer-songwriter, and Pierre Onténiente (1921–2013) was Georges Brassens’s right-hand man and longtime secretary. A fine copy, complete with the insert.
