[CURIOSA]. Fleurs de chair. A rare first edition on fine laid paper of this erotic novel, illustrated with a frontispiece and 5 loose plates. Montreal [Amsterdam], Le Baucher [Brancart], 1893. In-8 (130 x 200 mm) in Bradel binding, chocolate-colored half-percale, plain spine embossed with a special gilt iron depicting two birds in love, title label in blue leather framed by double gilt fillets, stone-patterned paper covers, original covers preserved. 139 pp. and 1 f. (catalog), 1 frontispiece title page and 5 black-engraved plates as inserts, typographical ornaments. Scuffs, a few rare foxing spots, plate paper slightly browned, a tiny tear and ink bleed in the margin of the title page. A rare first edition of the second volume of this erotic trilogy, published under the pseudonym of the Viscountess of Saint-Luc, whose epigraph foreshadows the content: “No flogging, no dildos, no dogs—nothing but human flesh, but all of human flesh without any reserve.” A frontispiece and five engraved plates explicitly illustrate these unbridled lewdities. This copy is complete with its final catalog leaf, which serves as a promotional flyer for the trilogy: the front announces the first title already published (*Autour du mariage de Paulette*), while the back previews the release of the third installment (*Liqueurs et parfums*). [Dutel, 1, 307] A pleasant copy in good condition.
