[CURIOSA] GRADASSI, Jean, and LE PETIT, Claude. *L'Escole de l'Interest* and *L'Université d'Amour*. *Les Cabarets de Paris*. Curiosa. Illustrated edition featuring 12 stencil-colored miniatures. First copy, featuring an original drawing, a signed proof, four color plates, and two additional compositions. Paris, Éditions Eryx, 1960. Very small 8vo (190 x 140 mm), loose-leaf, red cloth-bound cover with black title on the front cover, in the publisher’s green cloth slipcase and cardboard jacket. 165 pp., 12 full-page illustrations enhanced with stencil coloring. Illustrated edition featuring 12 original miniatures by Jean Gradassi, delicately colored using stencils. A deluxe edition limited to 490 copies on large Arches vellum; this is one of the first 12 copies (following a single, unique copy), enhanced with an original drawing and a handwritten caption on the spine (“illustration inspired by page 104 of the manuscript”), a signed proof, and four plates with annotations in four tones (black, green, red, and blue). It also contains two additional illustrations (also in four tones), a print of “Le Bordel des Muses ou les Neuf Pucelles Putains,” and four facsimile pages from the original edition, including the title page. This great classic by Claude Le Petit (1638–1662), a libertine author sentenced to death and burned alive at the age of 24 for the irreverence of his writing, is brought to life through the brush of illustrator Jean Gradassi (1907–1989), who showcases his mastery of miniature art in a profusion of risqué scenes. The copy is in excellent condition.
