[CURIOSA - VAN MAËLE]. An erotic trilogy by Paul Verlaine. A suite of 15 compositions. A separate suite of 15 risqué compositions attributed to Martin Van Maële, illustrating Verlaine’s famous erotic trilogy. No place, [Brussels], no publisher, [1931] 15 illustrations (160 x 110 mm), including one duplicate, mounted on heavy paper (270 x 176 mm), in a black-printed envelope. Tears along the margins of the envelope. A separate set of 15 voluptuous illustrations, including one duplicate, which were used to illustrate the 1931 clandestine Brussels edition of Verlaine’s famous erotic trilogy, bringing together *Amies*, *Femmes*, and *Hombres*, augmented by a foreword under the pseudonym Vidame de Bozégy and the “Sonnet du trou du cul” by Verlaine and Rimbaud. Although these highly unconventional compositions were published under the name Martin Van Maële (1863–1926), it would appear that they were falsely attributed to him (Dutel, 2513). In good condition.
