[CURIOSA - MARSOLLEAU and DESLIGNIÈRES]. Ribbons and Bows. A rare first edition on Holland paper of this erotic collection, illustrated with 24 woodcuts by André Deslignières. N.p. [Paris], n.p. [Simon Kra], 1920. Large 8vo (180 x 230 mm), paperback, mauve cover printed and decorated in red and green, blue cardboard slipcase. 63 pages, 24 woodcuts printed in black, including 1 frontispiece, 11 illustrations outside the text, and 12 headbands (6 woodcuts repeated). Cover very slightly sun-faded on the spine and margins, minute foxing, pale stain on the lower cover. First edition of this collection featuring poems by Louis Marsolleau (1864–1935), illustrated with 24 woodcuts by André Deslignières (1880–1968). A leading figure in the revival of wood engraving during the Roaring Twenties, the illustrator established a modernist style characterized by vigorous lines and a treatment of form that broke with the decorative aesthetics of the era. Limited to 105 copies, this is one of the 100 numbered copies on van Gelder Zonen Holland paper (No. 36), following 5 “Japon” proofs reserved for collaborators. A lovely copy with perfectly preserved interior. Rare.
