One of the first 50 copies printed on pure-fiber vellum, featuring two original drawings and an autographed dedication. Paris, Éditions Baudinière, 1949. Spine sun-faded with a paper loss at the top; case shows normal wear (slit at the bottom of the spine). First edition of this delightful parodic etiquette manual, illustrated with 51 two-tone drawings by the author, whose real name was Maurice Tessier. One of the 50 numbered first-edition copies on pure-fiber vellum. This copy is enhanced by an autographed dedication from the author to his old friend Dr. Pierre Boucard (1875–1967), a patron of the arts and prominent pharmaceutical industrialist (inventor of Lactéol), as well as an original drawing signed by the author in ink and watercolor (1 folio, loose in-4 on tissue paper). Included is a second drawing (1 page, large in-4, on his printed letterhead) along with a signed autograph business card addressed to a friend in thanks for her kind thought. Maurice Tessier (1885–1973), a traveler with a unique “cosmopolitan” style, achieved worldwide acclaim in 1925 with his novel *La Madone des Sleepings*. His writing is always tinged with irony and social satire, complemented here by his talent as a caricaturist. A fine copy with full margins and a fresh interior.
