BEAUMARCHAIS, Pierre-Augustin Caron de. *La Folle Journée, or The Marriage of Figaro*. A fine copy of the rare second Kehl edition, complete with its errata sheet and the famous illustrations by Saint-Quentin. Kehl Literary and Typographical Society, 1785. In-8 (299 × 150 mm), marbled brown sheepskin, straight ribbed spine, panels decorated with gilt metalwork and central fleurons, title label in Lavallière leather, red edges. LI and 199 pp., 1 f.n.ch. A rare second edition, published the same year as the original Paris edition, printed in Beaumarchais’s prestigious workshops in Kehl using the famous typefaces employed for printing Voltaire’s works. It is distinguished by its characteristic pagination of 199 pages and contains the same 5 illustrations based on Saint-Quentin as the first edition, but larger, more beautiful, and engraved by Liénard, Halbou, and Lingée.
